Pakistani hash, often just called “Pakistani black”, is the softest of the classic pressed hashes. The resin is sifted and then worked far longer than most, which is what gives it that glossy, almost liquorice-like surface and a texture you can press a thumbprint into straight out of the packet. Break a piece and the inside is dark and oily rather than crumbly.
Deep, warm and sedating. It comes on gently and then keeps building for the first half hour, ending somewhere heavier than most people expect. Best kept for the end of the day. Because it is so soft, it is easy to take more than you intended. Portion against a grain of rice rather than guessing.
Its softness makes it ideal for rolling. Warm it briefly, roll a thin snake and run it through a joint alongside your flower, or press a small piece onto a bowl. It also responds beautifully to a concentrate vaporizer at low heat, where the sweet end of the aroma comes through properly. If a piece is too sticky to handle, chill it for a minute first.
